Trey's First Bath

First bath. Trey's belly button fell off quickly but took a little big of time to heal. Last week he was able to take his first bath in the sink. After Tanner took his bath in the tub we asked if he wanted to help give Trey a bath...the answer was an excited yes!
He ran to get his stool from downstairs but was then concerned when I put Trey in the sink and not the tub. Trey did fairly well for his first time and I think he will come to love the water like his brother. Tanner helped me wash Trey's hair and kept telling Trey that it was okay.
Overall, it was a success and Tanner can't wait to be able to take a bath with Trey in the tub with him.

Trey Update

After two weeks Trey is settling into our daily family life, or we could say we have adjusted to him. At his two week check up he had grown 3/4 of an inch in length and now weighs in at 8 lbs 12 oz ( he was 7lbs 2oz. when we left the hospital). The doctor says that everything looks great and that he is in the 90% for height and 75% for weight, which is pretty similar to Tanner's stats at this age.
We found out after visiting a pediatric urologist that Trey has a condition called hypospadias. Basically it is when the urinary tract points down out of the penis instead of straight out. His is very minor, where instead of pointing completely down, the opening of his penis is too big which will cause him to spray all over when he pees instead of in a straight line. After talking to the doctor, we found it is corrected through an outpatient surgery when he is six months old.
For now, we will just wait until the end of summer for the surgery. There is the update on Trey. We will keep you posted on our growing boy!

Boys will be boys...

After a heavy rain Tanner, Trey and I went outside to walk and get the mail. On the way back he wanted to jump in the puddle. I figured no big deal, he has his boots on. What started out as jumping turned into sitting "next" to the puddle and putting his hands in, and then throwing rocks in. Scroll down to next picture...

Sitting "next" to the puddle progressed to sitting in the puddle and splashing the water with his hands. At this point I was still okay with the situation and was letting him have his fun, figuring we would walk through the garage and strip him before going inside. Scroll to next picture...

I finally had to redirect the mud puddle play when he laid down and attempted to blow bubbles in the mud puddle. At this point I had to explain that we only blow bubbles in the swimming pool and bath tub not in dirty mud puddles.

Here is to many more days of jumping in mud puddles and making the most of the everyday moments.

Baby Trey

Trey Jaxon blessed us with his presence at 1:58am on February 17th. Once again I was induced but my body kicked in and he came fast. He weighed in at 7lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long, just a little bit smaller than big brother Tanner.

Our growing family. Tanner came to meet his big brother Friday morning and was instantly in love. Tickling Trey's toes and giving him lots of loves. We can't wait to watch them grow up together and feel blessed to have such a loving big brother for Trey to look up to.

Brothers! I survived my first day at home with a house full of boys. I am sure my days will be filled with sports, cars, tackle, racing, noise, and dirt, but at the end of the day I will feel blessed and can't imagine life any other way.

Daddy and his boys. Tanner is wanting to help Trey with everything like nursing, getting dressed and "Trey up bed" when Trey is awake and crying. He is such a big helper...sometimes too helpful. But we love him!

Our newest blessing from God. Here is our sweet baby boy! We are so excited that he is finally here and are looking forward to the many adventures that a life with two boys holds for us. We are home and settling in and can't wait for him to meet everyone.

December update and last post of the year

This past month Tanner graduated to a toddler bed. The first week or so went great! He went to bed and stayed there until we went to get him in the morning. Lately it has been a different story. There has been getting out of bed, wandering into the halls, turning his light on and reading stories to his stuffed lion. Needless to say, you never know what you are going to find in the morning. But overall, I can't complain the good nights far outweigh the restless ones and he loves his new bed.

This Christmas was a hard one for me. I found a special place for the ornaments in memory of my brother and really seemed to miss him this year. Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, or the busyness of the season but I really wanted him around to enjoy his nephew and lend a listening ear and carefree attitude. Anyways...I know he is celebrating the birth of Christ in a much better place and still watching over us.

So...here is looking forward to 2012. Here is what's in store for our family:
1. Tyler and I turning another year older.
2. The anticipated arrival of our new son.
3. Tyler and I running Hood to Coast (a huge relay race in Oregon) in August.
4. Tanner turning 3.
5. A fun filled, energetic year of learning how to operate as a family of 4.
Here's to 2012!

3 becomes 4

Surprise! For those of you who have not heard...we are expecting another boy this February (yes, in less than 8 weeks). This Fall flew through like a whirlwind and I fell very far behind in our family blog, but I am back on board and am vowing to stay as updated as I can with two little boys filling my arms and time. Below are a few recent photos of our growing family. Enjoy!

A friend of ours took family photos for us this past month. I am amazed at how she so intricately captured our family and everything that makes us...well us. Above is me with baby boy #2.

Tanner has been very fascinated with my growing belly and likes to lift my shirt to "kiss" the baby.

Here is our amazing son. His smile brightens any day and hearing his giggle immediately brings a smile to our faces.

Here he is again...what you don't know is that the morning that our pictures were scheduled he fell down the steps and scrapped the side of his face. A few tears and a wet wash rag later, we are blessed with his amazing blue eyes and charming smile.

Overall, our family is staying busy and healthy. Tanner is in the 98th percentile for height and 75th for weight. He is a healthy growing boy who is quickly learning to talk and loves to sing and do all things active. Tyler is in the midst of coaching and his job is keeping him just as busy. I am adjusting to my new role as director and am looking forward to meeting our new son. He definitely is making his presence known and is quite active most hours of the day. The doctor says that everything looks great and that baby is healthy and growing.

Tanner Turns TWO!

It happened...Tanner turned two! We have been so blessed these last two years to daily be covered in his hugs, kisses and giggles. We had a birthday party at our house and he knew exactly what to do with all the presents this year. The part I loved is that after each gift he was so excited that he wanted to open it and play with it before moving onto the next gift.
Tanner is blessed with such great family and friends who spoiled him with all his favorites...cars, trains, books, and blocks. We can't believe he is already two but know that time will continue to quickly pass and that we need to continue to take the time to cherish each moment.
